Oscar Viewing Party with Cointreau Cocktails

You guys know I love to entertain and invite friends over for a relaxing evening. I've hosted Oscars viewing parties many times in the past, and I enjoy mixing it up every year. This awards season, I’m using new recipes inspired by the nominated films from Cointreau.

I make some of my "go-to" hors d'oeuvres, like deviled eggs (maybe with a touch of caviar since it's a glamorous night), a fancy popcorn (it IS movie night after all!) something sweet (try my white chocolate crispy rice bars below) and then add in a variety of new movie-inspired cocktails. This year, I’m so excited to partner with Cointreau and I’ll be using recipes from their new Cointreau Awards Night Cocktail Collection — all unique recipes inspired by this year's nominees and most-talked about films, as well as classic movies.

I had a chance to sample all of them already (how could I resist??) and a few of my favorites are the Wakanda Forever inspired by Black Panther and the Singapore Fling cocktail inspired by Crazy Rich Asians. At any party, cocktails get things going and make things more festive.  With these recipes, your party guests will still be talking about your soiree the next day!

Chinese Five-Spice Popcorn

  • 1/2 c. popcorn kernels

  • 2 T canola oil

  • 2 T sugar

  • 1 T Chinese five-spice powder (available in most grocery stores)

  • 1 t. salt

  • 1 T unsalted butter, melted

  • Edible gold glitter

Combine corn, oil, sugar, five-spice powder, and salt in a pot with a tight-fitting lid over medium heat. When corn begins to pop, turn heat to medium-low. Shake constantly until popping slows. Remove from heat (careful — it can burn easily), transfer to bowl, and drizzle with butter and sprinkle with edible gold glitter.

White Chocolate and Cranberry Crispy Rice Squares

  • Nonstick cooking spray, for greasing baking dish

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • 1 bag large marshmallows

  • 6 cups crispy rice cereal

  • 1 1/2 cups white chocolate chips

  • 1 cup dried cranberries

  • Edible gold glitter sprinkles, for garnish

Grease a 9-by-13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.

In a large microwaveable bowl, microwave the butter and marshmallows for 2 minutes. Stir and microwave an additional minute. Stir in 4 cups of the cereal. Add 1 cup of the white chocolate chips, the cranberries and remaining 2 cups cereal. Transfer to the prepared baking dish.

Spray your hands with nonstick cooking spray and use your fingers to spread the mixture evenly into the dish. Sprinkle with the remaining 1/2 cup white chocolate chips and use your fingers to push the chips into the cereal mixture. Garnish with the gold glitter sprinkles.

Let cool, cut into squares and store in an airtight container.
